I've got a knack of discovering pleasant songs, excellent movies, endearing books very late in time, sometimes even after it's fad fades away. One such song is Perunthil nee enaku...
The beauty of this song is that it relates to some very simple, unnoticed but pleasing moments in a our day to day life. The duet is of two people who sing about what they mean to each other. There are some cute imperfections in Madhushri's tamil pronunciation but the male singer makes up for all that.
Duh! Why do I even have to annotate the lyrics? It speaks for itself. ;)

Perunthil nee enaku jannal oram
Pin vasal mutrathil ne tulasi madam
Vidumurai natkalil pallikoodam
Vilayattu pillaigalin chella kobam
Aalilla nalliravil ketkum padal
Anbe anbe neeye

ReplyDeletefor some dont understand the language.......
Yes. You're right. Here it is...
ReplyDeleteOh! how do I translate this...okay...This is going to be really funny..
You are...
The window seat in the bus I travel
Tulsi shrub in the backyard of my home
The holidays of schooltime
Small kids' cute anger
The song which I hear at midnight while no one's there.
Love love, it's you.
The sleep that comes when we travel
The first shy feeling we experience in the coming of age
The early hours of exam days
The first garland that falls on my shoulders
The smile we smile during photographs
its you its you
The tea that I drink during a rainy day
The newspaper that's on the yard every morning
love, love..it's you.
---
The embracement of mother's lap
The baby's tiny smile while its sleeping
The crescent marks made out of finger nails
The scribbling on the class benches
The concentration we apply on the ring of the cellphone
it's you(2)
The gifts belove give me
its you(2)
The one who admires the mistakes of a poet
love, love its you
I'm not sure my translation is any good. The thing is that some words lose thier intensity while translated to another language. Hope you understood, Shika.
